Overturning the DOE Appliance Standards Rule

Official title: Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Energy relating to "Energy Conservation Program for Appliance Standards: Certification Requirements, Labeling Requirements, and Enforcement Provisions for Certain Consumer Products and Commercial Equipment".

What this does

This resolution overturns a Department of Energy rule and strips it of any legal force. Using the Congressional Review Act, Congress disapproves the DOE rule titled "Energy Conservation Program for Appliance Standards: Certification Requirements, Labeling Requirements, and Enforcement Provisions for Certain Consumer Products and Commercial Equipment," published at 89 Fed. Reg. 81994 on October 9, 2024. Once enacted, that rule has no force or effect, and under the Congressional Review Act the agency cannot reissue a substantially similar rule without new authorization from Congress.
