Law Enforcement Officer and Firefighter Recreation Pass Act
What this does
This bill amends the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act to make the annual National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass available at no cost to law enforcement officers and firefighters. That free pass already went to members of the Armed Forces and their dependents, and the bill keeps them eligible while adding the two new groups. Recipients must provide adequate proof of eligibility as determined by the Secretary. The bill defines a firefighter as a government employee who does work directly related to suppressing fires, including wildland fires, and a law enforcement officer as a government officer, agent, or employee authorized to prevent, detect, or investigate criminal law violations or to supervise sentenced offenders.
