Deporting Fraudsters Act of 2026

What this does

This bill amends the Immigration and Nationality Act so that a non-citizen convicted of certain fraud offenses is barred from entering the country and can be deported. It adds the trigger to both the inadmissibility grounds in section 212(a)(2) and the deportability grounds in section 237(a)(2). The covered offenses include SNAP benefit fraud, Social Security number and card fraud, theft or bribery involving programs that receive federal funds, identification-document fraud, major fraud against the United States, mail and related fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. It also reaches any other offense that involves defrauding the government or the unlawful receipt of a federal, state, or local public benefit, plus conspiracy to commit any of the listed offenses. The bar applies to a non-citizen who has been convicted of, admits committing, or admits acts constituting the essential elements of these offenses. A non-citizen who falls under the new provisions is made ineligible for any relief under the immigration laws.
