Save Our Shrimpers Act

What this does

This bill orders the Treasury to fight shrimp projects at the world's development banks. The Secretary of the Treasury must instruct the U.S. Executive Director at each international financial institution to use the U.S. voice and vote to oppose any financing for shrimp farming, shrimp processing, or shrimp export in a borrowing country. The Secretary may waive that instruction on any single project by telling Congress the waiver serves the national interest. The mandate expires seven years after enactment.
