Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act of 2025

What this does

Directs the Administrator of General Services, within one year of enactment, to establish a program under which a Federal law enforcement officer may buy a retired service firearm from the agency that issued it. The purchase must occur within the six-month period beginning when the firearm was retired, and the officer must be in good standing with the employing or former employing agency. The firearm is sold at its salvage value based on age and condition. The program excludes machineguns not lawfully possessed before the 1986 civilian-transfer ban in Section 922(o) of title 18, and the term Federal law enforcement officer includes retired officers.
