Promoting Opportunities for Non-Traditional Capital Formation Act

What this does

This bill adds new duties to the SEC's Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation. It amends Section 4(j)(4) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to require the Advocate to provide educational resources and to host or take part in events for small businesses and small business investors. Those events must raise awareness of capital raising options for underrepresented small businesses, including women-owned and minority-owned firms, for businesses in rural areas, and for small businesses hit by hurricanes or other natural disasters. It also requires the Advocate to meet at least once a year with representatives of State securities commissions to discuss coordination on assisting small businesses and investors.
