FIT Procurement Act
What this does
The Federal Improvement in Technology Procurement Act raises several dollar thresholds that govern how federal agencies buy goods and services. It lifts the simplified acquisition threshold from $250,000 to $500,000 and the micro-purchase threshold from $10,000 to $25,000, and it raises the ceiling for simplified small-purchase procedures from $5 million to $10 million. It raises the dollar levels at which contractors must submit certified cost or pricing data, and it increases the share of acquisition fees set aside for the acquisition workforce training fund from 5 percent to 7.5 percent. It authorizes new acquisition training programs, requires guidance meant to widen competition and lower barriers for small businesses, and orders a report on small business participation. It authorizes no additional funding to carry any of this out.
