No New Burma Funds Act

What this does

This bill directs the Secretary of the Treasury to instruct the United States representative at the World Bank's International Bank for Reconstruction and Development to keep blocking money from flowing to Burma's government. Using the U.S. voice and vote at the Bank, the representative would continue the pause the Bank already placed on both loan disbursements and new financing commitments to the Government of Burma. That pause began after Burma's military seized power in a 2021 coup that overthrew the country's elected government. The bill allows the Secretary of the Treasury to lift the directive if the Secretary determines that continuing the pause is not in the national interest.
