Reliable Federal Infrastructure Act

What this does

This bill repeals the federal requirement that new and renovated federal buildings phase out fossil-fuel energy use. It amends the Energy Conservation and Production Act to strike the subclauses that set the fossil-fuel-generated energy reduction targets for federal building standards. It provides that two sets of Department of Energy regulations in title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, at subpart B of part 435 and subpart B of part 433, have no force or effect. Until the Department issues new regulations, the underlying standard is to be implemented as though the struck reduction requirements had never taken effect. The bill also provides that a green-building or high-performance-green-building certification system used by the federal government may not deny a building certification solely because it uses fossil fuels, directly or indirectly. It directs the Secretary of Energy to issue new or revised regulations within 180 days of enactment.
