Make the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful Act of 2025

What this does

The bill directs the Secretary of the Interior, within 30 days of enactment, to build a program to clean and maintain federal and District of Columbia facilities, monuments, public spaces, sidewalks, parks, and transit areas, including graffiti removal, and to restore monuments and memorials that were damaged, defaced, or removed. It separately creates a District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful Commission in the executive branch, chaired by a senior official the President designates from the Executive Office of the President and staffed by representatives from Interior, Transportation, Homeland Security, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, ATF, the U.S. Attorney offices for the District, Maryland, and the Eastern District of Virginia, and the District's Mayor. The Commission is charged with recommending policies that direct the maximum enforcement of Federal immigration law within the District, including redirecting law enforcement resources to apprehend and deport people in the country illegally, monitoring the District's sanctuary-city status, speeding concealed-carry license processing, revising pretrial-detention practices, ending fare evasion on the transit system, and deploying a heavier federal and local law enforcement presence across the National Mall, monuments, and parks. Both the program and the Commission terminate January 2, 2029.
