Social Security Child Protection Act of 2025

What this does

Directs the Commissioner of Social Security to issue a new Social Security number to a child under age 14 when a parent or guardian shows, under penalty of perjury, that the child's number was compromised by the loss or theft of the Social Security card while the card was being sent to the child. The Commissioner must record the loss or theft in the child's file. The change amends Section 205(c)(2)(B) of the Social Security Act and takes effect 180 days after enactment.
