What this does

This bill expands several veterans benefits under title 38 of the U.S. Code. It creates a new supplemental monthly allowance of $833.33 for severely disabled veterans who already qualify for an aid-and-attendance allowance, and it sets up a formula that raises dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving family members whenever Social Security benefits rise, adding an extra increment on top of the Social Security increase. The bill also raises certain fees charged on VA-guaranteed home loans and pushes back the expiration dates of those fee provisions and of a limit on pension payments. Finally, it broadens who can qualify for VA-guaranteed home loans by counting National Guard and reserve service toward eligibility and by extending eligibility to service members with at least 14 days of active duty who finish their initial training, with an added loan fee for that newly eligible group.
