Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act of 2025

What this does

This bill amends the federal insurance-fraud statute at 18 U.S.C. 1033(f)(1)(A). Congress inserts language stating that the covered conduct includes the posting of monetary bail, criminal bail bonds, and Federal immigration bail bonds. Section 1033(f) already bars a person convicted of a felony involving dishonesty or breach of trust from engaging in the business of insurance without a written waiver. The effect is to bring bail bond activity, including federal immigration bail bonds, inside that existing ban. The House passes the bill under the stated purpose "to prohibit fraud in connection with posting bail." The operative change is one inserted parenthetical in one subparagraph.
