RED Tape Act

What this does

The bill narrows the Environmental Protection Agency's mandatory review duty under Section 309 of the Clean Air Act. Today that section directs EPA to review and comment in writing on proposed federal legislation, newly authorized construction projects and major federal actions subject to environmental review, and proposed regulations from federal departments and agencies. The bill strikes the review of newly authorized construction projects, major federal actions, and proposed regulations, leaving EPA's Section 309 review duty limited to proposed legislation.
