Medal of Honor Act

What this does

This bill raises the special pension paid to living Medal of Honor recipients. Current law fixes that pension at $1,406.73 per month. The bill replaces that fixed figure with a rate tied to a special monthly compensation level. It sets the pension equal to the amount under subsection (m) of the special monthly compensation schedule in 38 U.S.C. 1114, increased to the next intermediate step under subsection (p). It also bars a second cost-of-living increase in any year the pension was already raised. A final section extends an unrelated limit on veterans' pension payments, moving its expiration date from November 30, 2031 to January 31, 2033.
