Energy Emergency Leadership Act

What this does

The bill amends the Department of Energy Organization Act to add energy emergency and energy security to the functions the Secretary must assign to an Assistant Secretary. Those functions cover energy infrastructure security and resilience, emerging threats, cybersecurity, supply, and emergency planning, preparedness, response, and restoration. On request from a State, local, or Tribal government or an energy sector entity, the Assistant Secretary provides technical assistance to protect against, detect, and respond to energy security threats. The Secretary must ensure these functions are carried out in coordination with relevant Federal agencies.
