Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026

This vote bundled more than one measure

Omnibus by design. One vote carries subjects that are separate policy questions: SNAP and other food-assistance benefits for households (Title IV), commodity and dairy price supports for producers (Title I), forestry and wildfire programs (Title VIII), and a national-security prohibition on foreign-adversary purchases of farmland (Subtitle C of Title XII). The coupling point is the reauthorization vehicle itself. Section 1001 extends the underlying price-support sunset to 2031, so the farm programs and the nutrition programs ride the same bill, the traditional farm-bill coupling of grower supports to food assistance. The machine flagged three short titles; two of them, the White Oak Resilience Act and the Save Our Sequoias Act, are named subtitles inside the Forestry title, not unrelated riders. This is not a hidden single-section rider on an unrelated bill; it is a wide, multi-subject omnibus where a member could not vote for the foreign-farmland ban without also voting for the SNAP and commodity provisions, or the reverse.
