Measuring Illicit Fentanyl Trafficking Act

What this does

This bill directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to act within one year of enactment on how the Department tracks illicit fentanyl. It requires each Department of Homeland Security component that works on detecting, deterring, and seizing illicit fentanyl to share relevant data with the other components and to identify any barriers to that sharing. It also requires the Department to establish performance metrics for detection, deterrence, and seizure of illicit fentanyl, both department-wide and for each component, aligned with the Department's existing goals. The bill creates a coordination and measurement mandate. It adds no new funding, penalties, or enforcement powers.
