Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act of 2025

What this does

This bill makes driving under the influence a ground to keep a noncitizen out of the country and a ground to remove one already here. It amends the Immigration and Nationality Act so that any noncitizen who has been convicted of, admits committing, or admits the essential elements of an offense for driving while intoxicated or impaired is inadmissible. For deportability, the trigger is narrower: a noncitizen who has been convicted of such an offense is deportable. The definition of the offense is borrowed from the law of the jurisdiction where it occurred, and it counts whether the conduct is classified as a misdemeanor or a felony under federal, state, tribal, or local law. It covers driving under the influence of or impaired by alcohol or drugs.
